Applications are open for the ENT UK Foundation Grants Programme 2024

The ENT UK Foundation is the Philanthropic arm of ENT UK which seeks to improve ENT healthcare for all. The Foundation seeks to achieve this in part by investing in the specialty, providing research grants, educational fellowships and support for humanitarian projects, both nationally and internationally.

Applications are now open for the ENT UK Foundation Education and Research grants 2024. This year the ENT UK Foundation has agreed to fund a broad range of research and education grants with the themes of:

  • Research and Innovation
  • Education
  • Leadership
  • Environmental Sustainability

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 6 May 2024.

Research Grants

Applications of any amount will be considered. However, historically the amounts considered have been around £1,000 - £2,000. ENT UK wishes to encourage ambition and big ideas; therefore larger bids will be considered; however the size of the grant sought is a relevant factor in decision making and/or such projects may only receive part-funding.

Education Grants

Up to four Educational Grants are awarded annually to the value of £1,500 each.

Subject to the number and quality of the applications received:

  • One is awarded to an applicant who is a trainee at any stage of ENT training from CT1/ST1 to CCT from the Association of Otolaryngologists in Training (AOT) and is an ENT UK member.
  • One is awarded to a SAS ENT UK member, this includes Staff and Associate Specialists, Specialty Doctors and the new Specialist group.
  • One is awarded to an applicant who is a Student or Foundation Doctor ENT UK member.
  • One is awarded to a Young Consultant ENT UK member. Senior trainees should enter the trainee category rather than the Student or Foundation Doctor (for example if you are not in formal training but have taken time out to study a PHD).

ENT UK Foundation is committed to providing opportunities for its members to develop their careers. The grants are awarded to exceptional applicants who can demonstrate plans for an innovative educational project that aligns to the mission of the Foundation and will be of potential benefit to the wider ENT community, both in the UK and internationally. Please note that the application must be supported by either a supervising consultant if the applicant is a trainee, head of department if the applicant is a consultant, and local ENT undergraduate lead if the applicant is a medical student.
