Call for members: Education and Training Committee

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Subgroup Membership Vacancy- Trainee Representative

ENT UK scrutinises courses and awards CPD points in order that best practice can be promoted and to contribute to public and patient safety by ensuring access to quality-assured training.

A CPD subgroup undertakes the CPD approval and monitoring of ENT courses on behalf of ENT UK and reports to the Education Committee and the Director of Education for ENT UK

Continuing professional development is central to lifelong learning, and the CPD subgroup aims to assure that teaching and training are delivered to a high standard: course content is scrutinised and courses and delegate feedback are reviewed; courses are inspected to ensure that all courses with ENT UK CPD approval meet the highest standards.  The subgroup has a membership of five, and is chaired by Marianne Elloy.  Meetings are held on a yearly or twice-yearly basis with a time commitment of approximately one hour per fortnight for the regular and timely review of applications.

The five positions are usually held by two NHS clinical consultants, an academic consultant, an SAS grade member and a trainee. The committee is now seeking applications for a new Trainee representative.

The members will be required to undertake the following:

1.           Attend CPD subgroup meetings approximately twice yearly

2.           Review applications for CPD approval and allocate points for ENT courses

3.           Review feedback forms and inspect approved courses

4.           Provide feedback to course organisers regarding the inspection of their courses

If you would like more information on this role, please contact Miss Marianne Elloy at marianne.elloy@uhl-tr.nhs.uk
