ENT UK Foundation shares its success at summer showcase

Around 80 guests were invited to find out more about the impact of the ENT UK Foundation since its launch in 2021 at a Summer Showcase event held in July.  The ENT UK Foundation was set up to improve ENT healthcare for all by investing in the specialty, by providing research grants, educational fellowships, and support for humanitarian projects, nationally and internationally.

The ENT UK Foundation funded several Research Grants and Educational Fellowships last year and the attendees heard from three of the recipients who gave an update on their project:

  • John Hardman – INTEGRATE - National audit of the management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary
  • Wendy Smith - Chronic Cough in patients with renal cell carcinoma: The prevalence, trigger and potential clinical application of chronic cough as an early screening tool in patients with kidney cancer
  • Manish George - Artificial Intelligence Stratification of Thyroid Nodules

The ENT UK Foundation Awards 2022 are now open and the deadline for applications is Monday 25 July.  The Foundation is looking forward to receiving many ambitious ideas and innovative, transformative projects.

Prof. Nirmal Kumar, Chair of the ENT UK Foundation said:

“I was delighted to see so many colleagues and supporters of the ENT UK Foundation at the event.  We can’t achieve the Foundation’s vision without the generous support of our donors and I was pleased to announce and introduce a number of new sponsor commitments and legacy donations to the Foundation. We are very grateful for the contributions to the Foundation and for those who give up their time to support its work.“

Katie Nurcombe, ENT UK General Manager said:

“I was impressed by the presentations from last year’s Foundation Award recipients which demonstrates what can be achieved with the support of the Foundation.  I look forward to working together with our many supporters as the Foundation goes from strength to strength.  I encourage you all to find out more about the work of the Foundation and get involved.”

This event was kindly supported and hosted by Howden Insurance Brokers and took place on their roof terrace and venue space in London.  Howden Insurance Brokers offers an ENT UK-approved Medical Indemnity Insurance scheme.
