Join the Patient Information Team as our Easy-Read Lead

Patients are at the heart of ENT UK. Producing and promoting accurate and accessible clinical information is a key priority for the association to meet its charitable aims.  We are proud of the 55 new and reviewed patient information e-leaflets now hosted on our dedicated ‘For Public and Patients’ section of our website.

Building on our accessibility ambitions, we have partnered with the Down’s Syndrome Association to produce easy-read versions of our current leaflets for people with learning difficulties including people with Down’s Syndrome. The first e-leaflets for this project, Adenoidectomy has been produced in three parts and has now been published under the section Easy-Read. Our ambition is to explore further the possibility of illustrating simple procedures and producing ‘easy-read’ versions of the e-leaflets, featuring less text and more images to ensure additional accessibility and short animated videos.

To support this project, we are looking to appoint an ‘Easy-Read Lead’ to join the patient information team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • setting the strategic ambition for the project
  • overseeing and progressing activity with the patient information team
  • liaising with relevant partners
  • working within the available budget

The Easy-Read Lead will report to the Patient Information Clinical Lead and attend the monthly virtual patient information team meetings.  The term of the role is two-years with the possibility of an extension for a further two-year term.

If you have a passion for patient information, engagement and accessibility, and have the time to dedicate to this project, we look forward to hearing from you.

To apply, please send your CV and a 250-word statement explaining what makes you a suitable candidate to governance@entuk.org. The deadline for applications is 1 October 2024.
