Success for pilot ENT UK Foundation Funded Travelling Fellowship

Congratulations to Desderius Chussi for successfully completing the Prof. VS Rokade International Fellowship in Rhinology supported by the ENTUK foundation. Launched in June 2024 in collaboration with the Netcare Foundation and the College of Surgeons East, Central & Southern Africa (COSECSA), this fellowship aims to enhance rhinology surgical care across Tanzania and sub-Saharan Africa. It provides ENT surgeons with the opportunity to travel to the UK for a month to attend dissection courses in Wessex and observe surgeries at leading ENT centres.

Ashok shared: "Des Chussi has completed a month-long fellowship with us in Winchester. He attended advanced FESS and facial plastics courses hosted by Wessex ENT courses. He was awarded a completion certificate and surgical equipment worth around £7,000. These tools will be incredibly useful for him when performing operations in Tanzania. He was really happy and had been frustrated by not having these instruments to perform the surgeries he was trained for."

Chussi expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the fellowship, highlighting several key benefits: "The fellowship under Ashok Rokade's guidance has significantly enhanced my surgical skills and knowledge, particularly through observing meticulous surgical techniques and patient care in the UK. Rokade's leadership, compassion, and guidance have been deeply inspiring and motivating. This experience has equipped me to better teach and share skills with young ENT trainees and practitioners in Tanzania. Additionally, Rokade's introduction to esteemed international and local faculty in the UK has broadened my professional network and enriched my understanding of the field."

Once again, congratulations to Des Chussi on this significant achievement and the valuable skills and resources he will bring back to his practice in Tanzania.
