Submissions
This is a unique opportunity to share original research, audits, or quality improvement projects with colleagues from across the UK. Submissions may be chosen for either oral or poster presentations at the ENT UK Research Showcase Meeting, which will be held on:
- Date: Friday, 5th September 2025
- Venue: Hallam Conference Centre, 44 Hallam Street, London W1W 6JJ
These awards aim to recognise formal academic research activities (either pre-clinical or clinical, single or multi-centre), reporting major advancements in theoretical or clinical knowledge. Such research should form the foundation of major grant applications, postgraduate degree projects (e.g., MPhil, PhD, MD), or other significant publications.
Eligibility
- Abstracts must outline research undertaken with a clear research question.
- Only primary or secondary research will be considered (no case reports or audits).
- Submissions must not have been presented at another UK meeting prior to this event, although they may be presented elsewhere at a later date.
- Presenters must be ENT UK members affiliated with BOARS or SFO. Students, scientists, and professionals allied to medicine are not required to be members, but at least one co-author must be a member.

Important: Only one application per candidate is allowed. Applicants may submit to either the BOARS Awards or ANY ONE category of the Rowena Ryan Awards. Multiple applications from the same candidate will not be accepted.
All submissions will be acknowledged electronically shortly after receipt. Submissions not selected for oral presentations may be invited for poster presentations.
Abstract Guidelines

Format: Structured (Title, Aim, Methods, Results, Conclusion).

Word Count: Maximum of 300 words (including references). Include up to 2 key references.

Submission Limit: Only one abstract per presenter.
Presentations
Oral Presentations:
Timing: 7 minutes for presentation + 2 minutes for Q&A
Presentations are critiqued by an audience of esteemed academics in ENT and research.
Poster Presentations:
Submissions not selected for oral presentation may be invited for poster presentation.
Angell James Prize
The Angell James Prize will be awarded to the best oral research presentation.
- Prize: £300 and an invitation to present at the Dutch ENT Research Meeting, with an additional £300 awarded upon presentation.
- Audits and case reports are not eligible for this prize.

Abstracts will be anonymised and peer-reviewed by ENT UK Council members.
